Today, I testified against Senate Bill 23, a proposed law that would effectively ban abortion in Ohio. The bill passed out of committee and will head to the Ohio House floor tomorrow for a final vote — but my faith is not shaken.
Over the last few weeks, we have worked with 15 clergy and lay leaders to testify against SB 23 and collected signatures (pictured in the scroll) to amplify the voices of our Ohio Clergy for Choice network against this bill — and against all abortion bans.
We proudly stand with NARAL Pro-Choice Ohio, Unitarian Universalist Justice Ohio, the National Council of Jewish Women, Catholics for Choice, the United Church of Christ, and countless partners against this bill. All of these organizations and signatories combined represent hundreds of thousands of Ohioans who believe that SB 23 is morally wrong and infringes on both religious and reproductive freedom.
No matter what happens tomorrow, know that we will never stop fighting for you and for all Ohioans to access the reproductive health care you need and deserve.
And I hope you remember the faces of these faith leaders who recently stood up for reproductive health, rights, and justice as part of their moral witness. May their power, presence, and pastoral voices sustain you always.
