Job Description for Member of Board of Trustees

Board Membership—two paths
Appointment:	§ By a denomination, faith group, or civic group that is a subdivision of a national RCRC member (www.rcrc.org), or § From a group, such as a congregational committee or civic group, with a pro-choice stance, concerned about social justice or women’s issues § Two year term § Annual $50 dues paid by appointing organization
Election:	§ By a majority of the Board, of an individual from the community with special expertise § Expertise could include knowledge of and ability to express the pro-choice views of a particular religious or spiritual group, or special skills to offer to Board § Pro-choice individual, religious or spiritual, who supports religious liberty § Skills, time, energy and expertise, to devote to Ohio RCRC goals § Up to two year term as selected by the Board § No annual dues, but expected to be a donor § Appointment by member’s religious group can be sought after election
Responsibilities of Board members
§ Participate in Board meetings § Participate as a leader or active member responsible for a major activity § Participate in annual planning and budgeting § Act as a liaison to your affiliated faith group or your group with allied interests o Communicate policies and programs of Ohio RCRC o Distribute Ohio RCRC’s annual report and request annual membership o Ask members to volunteer for Ohio RCRC activities o Ask members to lobby Congress and Ohio legislators o Provide names of potential donors § Contribute financially, preferably at the major donor level (currently $50 and above) § Participate in activities currently given priority by Ohio RCRC § Educate others about Ohio RCRC and religious pro-choice views § Provide morale support to other Board members and the Director
